These templates are designed for homeowners and builders alike to use and understand easily and are free-of-charge for FMB members.
The trade group has revamped these templates to improve homeowner protection, citing internal data that £14.3bn has been lost to rogue builders in the UK since 2020.
There are versions of these contracts tailored to all four nations and they use plain English throughout.

Clear duty holder definitions, as detailed under the Building Safety Act, are included as well as flexible payment terms and optional advance/deposit mechanisms.
"No-one ever thinks they need a contract, until a client fails to pay, a subcontractor disputes what their role was, or there's a defect at the property,” said Sarah Fox, contract creator at the FMB.
“The FMB contracts are specifically designed with members' needs front and centre — easy to fill in the details, cover everything important and they shouldn't be off-putting for your clients or subcontractors.”
